Where’s My Ducky?
A web app for hiding rubber ducks and tracking who finds them using QR codes, built for cruise ship duck hunts.
The idea
A QR tag connects a duck to its story. Finders scan the tag or enter the duck’s code to see where it has been and add a note of their own.
From finder to finder
After finding a duck, you can keep it, hide it for someone new, or hold onto it and hide it later. Each finder’s note stays connected through the same tag.
Start a new story
You can also make printable QR tags for your own ducks, attach them, and hide them for someone to find.
Under the hood
Built with SvelteKit and TypeScript, with SQLite and Drizzle for data storage. Better Auth handles magic-link sign-in for creating and reopening tag batches, while finders can read and leave notes without an account.
